It’s been a really good start to the year for us so far, which is odd really, because we haven’t even played a show yet! Perhaps that’s the secret! 😉
Our new EP Spoiled and Nostalgic is continuing to find new listeners, and we’ve had a couple of lovely reviews recently. After some great airplay back home on BBC Radio 6, Amazing Radio, EGH Radio and BBC Radio Norfolk, we seem to have made some fans in our home country. Turtle Tempo is an award-winning British music blog that aims to discover the best independent music, so we were honoured that they gave ‘Tonight’ a listen, and very excited to hear that they “predict huge things for The Watanabes” as a result. There is an endless sea of great music out there, so we’re certainly not expecting any huge developments ourselves, but it is always a thrill to hear that someone has enjoyed our music. Thanks very much to Louise Tindall for the heartening words and beautiful review.
Another well-respected blog that aims to uncover the world’s loveliest music is Beautiful Song of the Week. They post a great new indie tune every week complete with a recommended listening activity and three reasons that make each song special. Week 347 was all about our very own ‘Hummingbird‘ and we were really impressed by how much thought they’d put into the review. They recommend getting lost while listening to The Watanabes, which we thought was a great idea. Personally, I love to put my stresses aside, put my headphones on, and aimlessly stroll around Tokyo listening to music, so I was so happy to hear that someone had been doing that with our own musical creations. Thanks so much to Beautiful Song of the Week for such a thoughtful and well crafted review. 🙂
