Mike Rogers is one of Japan’s most recognizable voices on radio. He’s been DJing and producing radio shows in the country for decades now, and we are truly honoured to have had his support over the years. He co-hosts a fantastic show on InterFM, called What The Fun Day, and spins tracks daily for “Rakuten Power Morning/Evening” on CrimsonFM. What The Fun Day is a extremely popular, and we can understand why. It’s full of laughter, great music and amusing banter, cantering not only to Japanese audiences, but also to English speaking ones. We are proud to have had a few Nabes tunes playlisted on the show.
More recently, Mike has been producing a show for Crimson FM: Rakuten Super Radio Power Morning. It’s a genuinely great show, which we can vouch for : I listen to it every morning on my way to work. It’s packed full of great tunes, but most importantly – fresh indie hits. Mike isn’t afraid to play great tunes by bands you’ve never heard of – yet! Mike was introducing Amy Winehouse and The White Stripes to his Japanese audiences long before they became famous, and I am sure that many of the bands he plays now will eventually reach a much wider audience. Hopefully we can be one of them: Mike has been spinning Over Romantic almost every day throughout October and November, and we would like to say a massive arigatou to him for doing so. He rates the track so highly infact that it made it into his TOP 50 Best Songs for 2016. Wow! What an honour!
Mike, thanks a million!
We were also delighted to discover a wonderful comment from the front man of The Routes; Christopher Jack. We’ve known Chris for years, but never actually met in person. We became aware of each others music back in our Ehime days. The Routes are based in Fukuoka and have been rocking out and releasing great tunes for many years. They are an awesome retro rock band: Check them out! I’m sure Chris would make a great manager, but we certainly wouldn’t want anything to get in the way of The Routes! 😉
